Casa Palacio Carmen Del Cobertizo - Granada

Carmen del cobertizo was full of character and history. There was a beautiful, peaceful walled garden - ideal for relaxing after a busy day sightseeing. Staff could not have been more helpful.

Perfect location, right next to Alhambra, in beautiful old part of town (Albaycin). Magnificent original building with cosy (covered) indoor courtyard, plus an outdoor area with spectacular view on Alhambra. Host makes you feel very welcome, and is eager to make sure you get the most out of you stay: follow with her reccomendations!

Make sure you speak/understand a bit of Spanish in order to be able to communicate with the host(s).

We liked everything about Carmen del Coberitzo - the location the accommodations, the facilities and especially the warmth of hotel manager and owner, Lorena Padilla The hotel is a part of Granada's history, located in the old section and very close to the Alhambra. It is a multi-leveled manor house with private sleeping areas, open living areas on internal balconies and a large outdoor patio. Lots of room to read and relax! Lorena truly welcomes you into her home - actually she invited us to join her family gathering on Christmas Eve for a wonderful dinner and international discussions. Truly a memory and experience that we will savor in the future. Clearly we will return to Carmen del Cobertizo on our next visit to Granada.

Nothing to complain about. Not really an issue for the hotel but we were limited on our interaction by our inability to to speak Spanish. My New Year's resolution is to sign up for a course in 2012!

Beautiful, welcoming, homelike. Excellent breakfast (10euros). Comfortable room and pleasant living area. Good location for exploring the Albayzin and downtown.

My Spanish isn't good enough to communicate very well with the hotel staff.

The lady who owned Carmen del Cobertizo was extremely friendly ,courteous and helpful although she has very limited English. she was happy to talk about the history of the "Palace" and it was like staying in a grand family home. The only criticism I had was that the soap in the bathroom had not been replaced from the previous guests and toilet rolls were lacking. The location was perfect with a view of the Alhambra from our window. A very pleasent place to stay. Regards Denise Edwards

Unbelievably beautiful house, lovingly restored by the owner Lorena who welcomed me & showed me around. I have never stayed in such a lovely place. It felt just like I was a guest in her home rather than staying in a hotel. Don't expect a 24 hour reception desk & fancy add-ons, but if you love quality, atmosphere, surroundings & comfort, along with a friendly welcome, please visit! The view from the upper floor of the Alhambra is wonderful, & my room overlooked the pretty walled garden, also with a virew if the Alhambra. There is also a plunge pool in the garden for the hot summer mionths. The Carmen del Cobertizo is wonderfully situated in a quiet passageway at the base of the Albayicin, just back from the river Darro & opposite the spectacular Alhambra. Please visit....it's wonderful!

The location was great, the staff friendly, the place beautiful inside and out.

We loved the location, of this property. The home itself was beautiful and once you 'find it' and step through the door it certainly has a wow factor.. It is easy to walk from here to the many restaurants and Tapa's bar as well as walk to Alhambra,,, You don't have to be super fit to walk to Alhambra from here, it's a 10-15 min uphill 'stroll' through a parkland setting to reach one of the old gates. Hint: if driving, It's best to drive directly to Plaza Real parking lot and take a taxi from there.

We used the Plaza Real parking lot and took a taxi which stops at the bridge one road down from Carmen del Corbertizo. Despite the taxi dropping us off fairly close this is a home rather than hotel and is difficult to locate as there is no makings on the door.. After wandering up and down some cobbled streets for quite a while we rang on the door of a hotel only to discover we were less than 50 yards away! The family don't speak English so communication can be very difficult and breakfast is very poor value for money.

The staff were all very helpful, charming & courteous. Location is ideal. Tea & coffee when you want. Good breakfast. Charming old fashioned rooms in old courtyard style town house. Price reflects location.

Bathroom could do with a little updating perhaps.

We had a wonderful and restful time at Carmen del Cobertizo. Lorena and her staff are all so very lovely and helpful. Our room was always maintained perfectly, the breakfast tasty and plentiful, and the garden, with it's arab bath, the perfect place to relax, cool down and settle with a good book and a cool drink. The house really is a home, with personal family touches everywhere, making it a very personal experience for ourselves as well. The central salon is beautiful.

Only thing wrong was with myself, for not having learned more spanish beforehand, but will put that right when we return.

Beautiful setting and house. Excellent location and very friendly but courteous staff. You feel more in a house than a hotel. We won't go anywhere else if we go back to Granada. We loved our stay there.

small family run house - beautifully furnished in the perfect position to explore Granada. All facilities were extremely good - was owner run and lived in. Breakfast was excellent. Would highly recommend.

Nothing. However, as no English spoken at all by owner, some knowledge of Spanish is useful and will help you get the best out of your stay.

it was like staying in a very comfortable family house . did not feel at all commercial so not for the package tour traveller. Very friendly staff and owners . Nothing was too much trouble . Good quality breakfast and a lovely courtyard/garden to come back to after a day's sightseeing . Would definately return . Loved the experience

Difficult to find , but they arranged a taxi to get there so it was not a problem

Very nice house (not really a hotel) for the price of the room you expect to get the breakfast included and not offered for 10 euros (especially when you can have one for 6 euros outside not as big as the hotel but still). The pool is not a pool at all so do not expect to swim after your hot day. Location is great very central and in the best area to walk around and go out at night. People at the hotel are extremely nice, helpful and make you feel at home. Overall I think it is over priced and not worth paying what they require.
